About the journal
Húlu means gourd.
Húlu (葫芦) is Mandarin Chinese for gourd or calabash. This independent editorial project follows the plant through cultivation, craft, collecting, and cultural history.
Editorial standards
Source-aware, plainspoken, and specific.
Our articles are original editorial syntheses. Botanical gardens, university extension services, government safety guidance, museum records, and named makers provide starting points. Uncertainty is stated plainly.
